How to Keep an Avocado From Turning Brown
Tired of tossing expensive halved avocados that have turned brown and mushy after a night in the fridge? Give one of these avocado preservation tips a try next time you have any leftover fruit:
- Leave the pit intact and brush the cut surface of the avocado with a thin layer of lemon or lime juice; store in the fridge for up to three days wrapped in plastic wrap.
- Use reusable beeswax wraps to store a halved avocado for up to a week in the fridge! The surface will dry out and darken, but will remain perfectly green and ripe underneath — remove this part with a knife before using.
- Leftover guacamole? Brush the surface with a very thin layer of citrus juice and press plastic wrap directly onto the dip. Store for up to two days in the fridge, removing the plastic wrap right before serving.
