These easy steak kebabs are ideal for busy weeknight dinners. The skewers cook quickly under the high heat of the broiler, just 1 to 2 minutes per side, and they’re done. The flavorful sauce helps make them something special. Flank steak is a lean, versatile cut of beef, but it is important not to overcook it since it can get chewy. Also, when slicing the meat before skewering it, be sure to cut it across the grain, which will help keep it as tender as possible. You’ll need a one-inch piece of fresh ginger root to yield enough grated ginger for this recipe.

Ingredients

cooking spray

2 spray(s)

cilantro

¼ cup(s), chopped

soy sauce

3 Tbsp

mirin

1 fl oz, (2 Tbsp)

ginger root

1 Tbsp, peeled, grated

garlic chili paste

2 tsp

dark sesame oil

1 tsp

table salt

½ tsp

uncooked lean and trimmed beef flank steak

1 pound(s), cut diagonally into thin strips

uncooked scallion(s)

4 medium, chopped

Instructions

  1. To make sauce, combine cilantro, soy sauce, mirin, ginger, chili-garlic sauce, and 1/2 tsp sesame oil in a small bowl.
  2. Spray broiler rack with nonstick spray; preheat broiler.
  3. Toss beef, scallions, remaining 1/2 tsp sesame oil, and salt in a large bowl until beef is well coated. Thread beef onto 4 (12-inch) metal skewers. Broil 4 inches from heat until beef is browned, 1–2 minutes per side. Serve with sauce.
