You cannot beat a delicious breakfast recipe with only 5 ingredients that is ready to eat in just about 30 minutes. Rehydrating the dried apples with the cinnamon helps to infuse their flavors together making the perfect companion to the sausage filling. Sweet and meaty, this recipe is truly kid friendly! Need something to take in the car? This is a great option for on-the-go breakfast when time is tight. Keep leftovers wrapped in the refrigerator up to 2 days and reheat them for serving.

Ingredients

Uncooked turkey sausage

14 oz, breakfast variety (about 8 links)

Dried apple

1 cup(s), sliced

Water

¾ cup(s)

Ground cinnamon

tsp

Reduced fat crescent roll dough

8 oz

Instructions

  1. Thaw the sausages according to package directions; set aside.
  2. Meanwhile, combine the apple slices, water, and cinnamon in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring, until the apples are very tender and the liquid has evaporated, about 5 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven according to directions on the crescent dough package. Unroll the dough and separate into 8 triangles. Place a sausage and about 1 tablespoon of the apple mixture along the base of each triangle, then roll up completely to enclose the filling. Bend the sides slightly in toward the center to form crescent shapes. Place on a nonstick baking sheet and bake until puffed and lightly browned along the edges, about 12 minutes. Serve hot. Yields two rolls per serving.

Notes

Reheat the leftovers in a 325°F oven until thoroughly heated through, about 8 minutes. Don’t try microwaving them — they’ll come out soggy.
