Quick and versatile, this chutney with its fresh bold flavors and a hit of heat makes it a wonderful complement for anything that’s grilled, roasted, or steamed. It’s also delicious as a dip or sandwich spread. Chutney is a gluten-free spicy or savory condiment that originated in India. It’s made from fruits, vegetables, and/or herbs with vinegar, sugar, and spices. In the United States, chutneys are somewhere between a relish, a jam, and a jelly, but the term is now generally applied to anything that’s preserved in sugar and vinegar in varying consistencies. If you’d like to amp up to heat, replace the jalapeños with habaneros.
