There are some foods that are simply made for each other, like shrimp and rice. In this sweet and sour shrimp recipe, we marry those two ingredients in a one-of-a-kind sauce that is so delicious. It starts with shrimp, and the key here is the seasoning. Since the dish really only has these two components, the shrimp is what really packs the flavor. Try and reserve an hour for the shrimp to marinate, as that will intensify the flavors. Without that portion of the process though, this recipe takes 20 minutes and serves four, so it's a great, quick dinner to make for the whole family.

Ingredients

Dijon mustard

1½ Tbsp

Rice wine vinegar

1½ Tbsp

Vegetable oil

1 Tbsp

Honey

1 Tbsp

Table salt

¼ tsp

Black pepper

¼ tsp

Uncooked shrimp

1 pound(s), should be 1 lb flesh after peeled and deveined

Cooked white rice

3 cup(s)

Instructions

  1. Combine mustard, vinegar, oil, honey, salt and pepper in a medium bowl; add shrimp and chill for 1 hour. (Note: If you're short on time, simply baste the shrimp with the marinade a few times when grilling.)
  2. Preheat grill or broiler. Grill or broil shrimp until pink and tender, turning once, about 5 minutes. Serve over rice. Yields about 3 ounces shrimp and 3/4 cup rice per serving.
