Red cabbage and golden apple sauté
1 medium, sliced
Uncooked red cabbage
5 cup(s), sliced
1 medium, Golden Delicious, peeled and diced
¼ tsp, freshly ground
- Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the cabbage, caraway seeds, and water. Simmer, covered, until the cabbage is barely tender, about 8 minutes. Add the apple, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Simmer, covered, until the cabbage is very tender, about 6 minutes longer. Yields about 2/3 of a cup per serving.
