This is a make-your-own version of frozen yogurt. Trust us, it's worth your 20 minutes of prep time and so much tastier than store-bought. Rather than chopping the strawberries, here’s an even quicker way to prepare them: roughly slice the berries directly into a bowl, then mash with a potato masher. Adding the berries to the lemon juice, sugar and salt mixture causes the berries to release their delicious juices which flavors the yogurt. Give this strawberry dream ample time to freeze, and serve it for dessert or an afternoon snack indulgence topped with a dark chocolate sauce for a truly luxurious treat.

1 pound(s), hulled and chopped

1 cup(s)

Fresh lemon juice

2 Tbsp

Table salt

1 pinch(es)

Vanilla lowfat yogurt

1 cup(s)

Fat-free half-and-half

1 cup(s)

  1. Combine strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and salt in medium bowl; with potato masher, crush strawberries. Let stand, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, whisk together yogurt and half-and-half in large bowl until smooth. Stir into strawberry mixture. Cover and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, about 2 hours (or place in freezer for about 1 hour).
  3. Pour strawberry mixture into ice-cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Transfer to freezer container and freeze until firm, at least 2 hours.
  4. Per serving: 1/3 cup
