Friends and family will love this fresh, creamy twist on a delicious dessert classic. In a quick 10 minutes you can whisk together your own frozen yogurt dessert and cherry pie rolled into one. This cool treat fills a chocolate pie crust and gets garnished with chocolate, too, so chocolate lovers will delight in it. And crowned as it is with cherries on top, this cold after dinner indulgence is the perfect dessert to wow a crowd, so make it ahead when you're planning a dinner party. It needs a day or night to firm up in the freezer. Any uneaten pie can return to freezer, just cover it to enjoy later and prevent it from frosting on top, which will soften the pie with added moisture.

Ingredients

Lowfat frozen yogurt

4 cup(s), chocolate-flavor, softened

Maraschino cherries

40 item(s), drained and chopped (about 1 1/2 cups)

Chocolate pie crust

6 oz

Light aerosol whipped cream

½ cup(s), frozen, thawed

Bittersweet chocolate

¾ oz, grated (about 2 Tbsp; optional)

Maraschino cherries

8 item(s), with stems (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine yogurt and cherries; fold gently to combine. Spoon yogurt mixture into pie shell; cover and freeze for 8 hours or until firm.
  2. Cut pie into 8 wedges and top each slice with 1 tablespoon whipped topping. Garnish with chocolate and cherries. Serve immediately. Yields 1 piece per serving.
