Spiced fruit porridge

Frozen Mixed Berries

250 g, summer fruits

Freshly squeezed orange juice

25 ml

Cinnamon Stick

Star Anise

½ individual

Porridge oats

Skimmed Milk

500 ml


  1. Put the frozen fruit, orange juice, cinnamon stick, star anise and honey in a small pan and place over a medium heat. When it starts to bubble, reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 minutes, using a wooden spoon to stir, until the liquid is reduced and slightly sticky.
  2. Meanwhile, put the porridge oats in a large pan. Add the skimmed milk and 250ml water, stir well, then put over a medium heat and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat, and simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring continuously, until thick and creamy.
  3. Discard the cinnamon stick and star anise and serve the compote with the porridge.
