Marios says:

When Shaun surprised me by asking if we could spend our lives together, I didn’t even need to say yes. I just started bawling! But at 3st overweight, I didn’t feel very good about myself. Shaun and I were both working hard as teachers and we’d come home and order pizzas. We tried to be “healthy” occasionally, but it never lasted.

I decided to join WeightWatchers and dragged Shaun along with me. I come across as an outgoing gay guy, but I was intimidated by the idea of the group and needed my partner with me to give me the confidence to walk into my first Workshop. But it was great – there were men and women of all ages.

Since joining WeightWatchers, we’ve changed how we cook and eat – I’m Greek and cook a lot of traditional dishes, but I’ve started in swapping béchamel sauce for low-fat cheese and 0% fat yogurt, for example. Even my mum and dad are impressed!

As I’ve lost weight I’ve started to feel more confident. Even the pupils at my school said, ‘You’re looking good, sir’ and that means a lot. Fifteen-year-old girls tell it like it is!

WW has transformed my life and made me feel like I can take on the world. Here comes the groom!

Shaun says:

When Marios said he’d like to join WW to get in shape for the wedding, I realised how unhealthy our life had become. When you’re in a relationship, it’s easy to fall into the comfort trap. It was a shock when we realised how many Points® we were eating, and before joining WW I’d pretty much given up exercise.

Now we’ve both become fans of yoga and Pilates, and I’ve really noticed a change in my mental health since joining WeightWatchers. Marios has changed so much, too. He loves it when people tell him how great he looks, but for me the best part has been seeing his self-confidence grow.

My family loves a dance, and when Marios’s family hear Greek music you can’t stop them, so it’s going to be like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, only we’ll be slim!
