Five simple ingredients combine in less than 10 minutes to a dish worth celebrating. The broiler transforms the firm, ripe pears into luscious, tender and caramelized treats with a buttery note from the margarine. Dinner party worthy, these pears serve well on their own, with a dollop of creme fraiche or topped with a bit of low-fat frozen yogurt. Make a second batch and cut them smaller for serving over pancakes on the weekend. The deep flavors of cinnamon and sweet pear almost beg for a cup of coffee or cocoa as a side item. Making French toast? These pears are a wonderful side dish and work well for a brunch time dish.
