The sweet crispy apples are cooling, the cheese is rich and the maple lathered bacon is salty and smoky. A complete meal or snack for one that will delight with every bite. Kids will also enjoy this as an easy after-school snack. Layer the items bento-box style in a lunch box for the school day or an at-work lunch.

Ingredients

Uncooked turkey bacon

2 slice(s)

Maple syrup

½ tsp

Granny Smith apple

¼ medium, unpeeled, thinly sliced

Low fat cheddar or colby cheese

1 oz

Instructions

  1. Line a microwavable plate with a paper towel; place bacon on top and lightly brush with maple syrup. Heat in microwave on high power until bacon is thoroughly cooked, about 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from microwave; cut each piece of bacon in half.
  2. On another plate, layer a piece of apple, a piece of cheese and a piece of bacon; repeat with remaining ingredients, ending with an apple slice. Yields 1 stack per serving.
