This four-ingredient garlic bread is super easy to make and complements any hearty entrée. Roasting the garlic in the oven until it's tender really puts the flavor over the top. You'll also love all the hands-off cooking time. Add some grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning to the garlic, spread on a halved whole wheat baguette, and let it broil until the bread is browned and the cheese is melted for a delectable appetizer. The irresistible garlic-Parmesan mixture is also great spooned over steamed green beans, spread over grilled chicken or salmon, or used as a topping for steamed baby potatoes.

Ingredients

Garlic

1 bulb(s), (whole head)

Grated Parmesan cheese

¼ cup(s)

Italian seasoning

¾ tsp, dried

Whole wheat bread

6 oz, 1/2 (12-ounce) baguette, split in half

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cut head of garlic crosswise in half. Lightly spray all over with olive oil nonstick spray and tightly wrap in sheet of foil. Place foil package directly on oven rack and roast until garlic is very tender when squeezed, about 1 hour.
  3. When cool enough to handle, unwrap garlic and squeeze out pulp from each clove into small bowl. Add Parmesan and Italian seasoning, mashing mixture with fork until smooth and combined.
  4. Preheat broiler.
  5. Spread garlic-Parmesan mixture over cut sides of bread. Place bread, cut-side up, on broiler rack and broil 5 inches from heat until browned in spots and heated through, about 2 minutes. Cut bread into 12 pieces.
