olive oil3 Tbsp
uncooked onion(s)½ cup(s), chopped
minced garlic2 Tbsp
fresh tomato(es)2 pound(s), ripe, cored and diced
canned tomato paste1 Tbsp
kosher salt2 tsp
basil½ cup(s), fresh, chopped
- In a non-reactive saucepan, combine oil, onion and garlic; sauté over medium heat until onion is translucent, about 1 minute.
- Add tomatoes and their juices, tomato paste and salt; sauté until tomatoes begin to soften, about 1 minute.
- Cover pan, reduce heat to medium-low and cook until sauce consistency, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in basil.
