Making fluffy, nutty brown rice is easier than you think. And you don’t need a rice cooker… just your favorite saucepan. Cooked rice isn’t just good as a side; you can add it to soups, stews, or braises or use it as a base for a quick fried rice dish. You can also whip up a hearty rice salad by stirring in parsley, halved cherry tomatoes, and cooked shrimp or diced chicken or turkey breast.

Ingredients
Water
10 cup(s)
Table salt
1 tsp
Uncooked long grain brown rice
1 cup(s)
Instructions
1
Bring water and salt to boil in large saucepan. Add rice and stir to separate grains. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes. Drain rice in sieve and quickly return to pot with water clinging to rice. Cover and let stand at least 10 minutes or up to 30 minutes. Fluff with fork just before serving.
