Here’s a tasty, starchy side that hits both sweet and spicy notes. You'll find yourself serving it at every festive holiday party you throw. It's also delicious enough to potentially earn a spot on your Thanksgiving table; we're that confident in it. Just be sure to finely chop the pecans to help evenly spread them throughout the dish to get a little crunch in every bite. The only other ingredients you need are sweet potatoes, light brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, butter, and salt. The potatoes take about an hour to soften completely, so you can get those going while you prep your entrée.

Ingredients

Uncooked sweet potato

3 pound(s)

Packed light brown sugar

1½ Tbsp

Unsalted butter

1 Tbsp, melted

Pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp

Kosher salt

½ tsp

Chopped pecans (unsalted, raw or dry roasted, no sugar added)

6 Tbsp, toasted

Instructions

1

Preheat oven to 425°F. Place potatoes on a baking sheet and roast until soft, about 1 hour; remove from pan and let cool 15 minutes.

2

Slice potatoes in half and scoop flesh into a large bowl; discard skin. Add sugar, butter, pumpkin pie spice and salt to bowl; coarsely mash to combine ingredients and then fold in pecans. Yields about 1/2 cup per serving.
