Sweet, jammy figs are a treasure to savor when their short-lived seasons arrive twice each year, and this recipe is a wonderfully simple way to celebrate their arrival. It’s easy, elegant, and perfect for a dinner party for dessert or as part of a cheese platter, or enjoy them during a weeknight dinner or to serve on your morning oatmeal. The two harvests are in early summer and late summer to early fall. You should choose soft, plump fruit and avoid ones that are dry and cracked. Figs are delicate though and should be eaten within a few days of purchasing. Store them in a single layer on a plate in the refrigerator.
