Love apple pie but not the time it takes to make and bake the crust? Then this quick-and-easy, crust-free, apple pie dessert is meant for you. It takes the warm, gooey pie center and uses it as the base of a sundae: That’s like two desserts for the price of one!. Swap a pear for the apple, if desired, and in summer months, try two medium stone fruit in place of the apple. Add some brightness by stirring lemon zest and juice into the mixture, or add a touch of warmth with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon and nutmeg.

Ingredients

Cooking spray

2 spray(s)

Apple

1 large, honeycrisp suggested, cut into 1/2-inch pieces (about 1 ½ cups)

Sliced almonds

1½ Tbsp

Maple syrup

1 tsp

Non-dairy aerosol whipped topping

1 Tbsp

Sprinkles

1½ tsp

Instructions

  1. Lightly coat a medium nonstick skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium-low heat. Add apples, almonds, and syrup; cook, stirring occasionally, until apples soften slightly and start to turn golden, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat; spoon mixture into a serving bowl. Let cool slightly; garnish with whipped topping and sprinkles. Serve hot or warm.
  3. Serving size: 1 sundae
