What’s more fun than a State Fair-fried pickle? Crispy air-fried ones! If you're cutting your own chips, for a fancier look, slice your pickles on the bias, about ¼-inch thick. And if you prefer your breading more refined, process the panko in a mini food processor (or even just crush it with a rolling pin in the bag). Enjoy these served on a burger, tossed into a salad, or as a snack.

Ingredients

Hamburger pickle chips

30 chip(s), dill-variety (about 1 1/4 cups)

Egg

1 item(s), large

Panko breadcrumbs

½ cup(s), gluten-free or regular

Garlic powder

½ tsp

Paprika

¼ tsp

Kosher salt

¼ tsp

Black pepper

¼ tsp, freshly ground

Cooking spray

6 spray(s)

Instructions

  1. Blot the pickles dry.
  2. In a small shallow bowl, whisk the egg. In another small shallow bowl, combine the panko, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Using a fork, dip a pickle in the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off. Next, place the pickle in the panko and turn to coat. Transfer the breaded pickle to a plate and repeat with the remaining ingredients.
  3. Preheat an air fryer, if necessary, to 400℉. Coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the coated pickles in an even layer in the basket (cook in batches, if necessary). Coat the tops of the pickles with cooking spray and air fry until golden brown and crispy, 9 to 10 minutes.
  4. Serving size: 5 pickle chips
