Track Star

Ever eaten 200 extra SmartPoints in one week? Kristina did—and used it to help others persevere.

Kristina Schneider, Meetings, Lost 60 lb*

*People following the Weight Watchers plan can expect to lose 1-2 lbs/wk. Kristina lost 60 lb. on a prior Weight Watchers program and SmartPoints.

“My Leader once told me, ‘Focus on the change, and the results will come.’”

In Kristina’s words:

I always used to feel like my body was comfortable at 275 pounds, and I knew that wasn’t healthy. I had first joined Weight Watchers in 2008, and I was successful until an injury threw me off. No matter how much weight I lost, I always went back to 275 pounds. I knew that had to stop, so I decided to go back to the program in November 2012, and my body is getting comfortable at my new weight.

Tracking Everything

When I joined Weight Watchers, I realized quickly that I was eating until I was stuffed. So I started to weigh, measure, and track my food. Even if I go way over my SmartPoints, I still track every single bite. And I’m just honest about it. When I tell others I do this, they say to themselves, “If Kristina can track a -200 SmartPoints week, I can track my day.”

It’s All About Presentation

I used to not care about presentation; I’d order a pizza and eat it straight out of the box. But now I make these delicious, beautiful salads: one is a Greek salad with cucumber, pepperoncini, and artichoke hearts, and the other has strawberries, cucumbers, dried cranberries, almonds, and pear gorgonzola dressing. I love posting about them on my Instagram page, and I even get requests for them at family potlucks!

Sharing my Journey

Talking about my ups and downs helps me stay successful. I love to journal so I started a blog. I talk about the recipes I make, the activities I’ve tried, and how I’m feeling about my week. My journey hasn’t been easy-breezy, but writing on a daily basis helps me realize how much I have to be thankful for.

Finding Your Fitness

I like to challenge myself in fitness. I like taking cardio barre classes, kickboxing, and I’ve even tried CrossFit. I’ve always loved basketball, and now I play on a recreational basketball league. Not only do I have the height, but thanks to my weight loss, I’m much faster on the court than before.

Focusing on Food

After watching a documentary about the food industry, I started eating differently. I used to drink so much soda, and now I’ve eliminated it from my daily diet. I’ll drink Crystal Light instead—I probably drink 120 ounces a day! I also opt for fresh foods over processed, and butter over margarine. Start noticing the chemicals you’re putting into your body, and get rid of them.

Finding Peace

Living in Los Angeles, the weather is amazing 90% of the time. Very early on, I created a routine that after my Weight Watchers meeting every Saturday, I head to these cliffs near my house to reflect on my week and prepare for the next one. It reminds me how blessed I am to be in the area. And it helps me clear my mind and prepare for the challenges ahead.
