Pairing autumnal fruit with crunchy oats and almond, these crumble-style bars are great with a cup of tea

Ingredients

Low Fat Spread

Honey

75 g

Porridge oats

200 g

Ground Almonds

50 g

French almond extract

½ teaspoon(s)

Pear

2 medium, peeled, cored and chopped

Cranberries

100 g, fresh or frozen

Low Fat Spread

25 g

Plain White Flour

25 g

Flaked almonds

15 g

Demerara Sugar

1 tablespoon(s), level

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C, fan 200°C, gas mark 7. Mist a 15cm x 23cm tin with cooking spray and line the base with greaseproof paper.
  2. Put the low-fat spread and honey in a large pan and gently heat until the spread has melted. Add the remaining main ingredients and stir until well combined.Spoon into the prepared tin and press down firmly with the back of a spoon.
  3. To make the streusel topping, use your fingers to rub the low-fat spread and flour together. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Scatter over the oat mixture and press in lightly. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until firm and golden. Let cool before cutting into 12 slices.

Notes
