Peanut powder does double-duty in this recipe, appearing both in the tender maple-peanut butter doughnuts, and again in the sweet peanut butter frosting. Add a sprinkling of bacon bits and you’ve got yourself a mapley, bacony, peanut buttery treat that’s hard to resist. Peanut powder is made by pressing out most of the natural oils from roasted peanuts, and then grinding the remaining nuts into a fine powder that has a big peanut flavor, as well as fewer calories. If you don’t have a doughnut pan, you can divide the batter among a 6-cup muffin tin, and bake a little longer, 15 to 20 minutes in a 350°F oven.
