Helen: Cycling showed me I could do anything

When I joined WW,

I finally felt confident enough to try exercise. To stay focused on losing weight, I signed up to a 100-mile bike ride with some fellow members. But at just under 5ft, finding a bike that was small enough proved impossible.

Instead of giving up

on my cycling dreams, my husband and I invested in a tandem bike so we could ride together. Our first trip was a challenge, and I felt so unfit. But gradually we increased our distances and it got a bit easier each time.

After a year, we were cycling

65 miles in a day. I couldn’t believe it! We pushed one another through a massive 111-mile journey, so I could complete the distance I would have done if I’d been able to participate in the original event. It was a turning point for me: I could see (and feel!) the benefits of being active, and how it could support my journey. Being pushed out of my comfort zone has shown me I can do anything if I just believe in myself.
