See your meetings as ‘me time’ I joined Weight Watchers in 2011, after a few years of steadily gaining weight and getting to 14st 8lb. To be honest, I didn’t know if I’d be able to handle it at first. I joined during a particularly stressful time in my life and wasn’t even sure I wanted to change my eating habits. But I started to look forward to meetings – they were ‘me time’. I steadily lost weight almost every week.
Know you’ll feel and look better I had no energy, varicose veins and swollen ankles, and I was bored of not feeling good about myself – both the way I felt and the way I looked. The plan helped me recognise my bad eating habits and encouraged me to embrace a healthier diet, without ever making me hungry or deprived. In 11 months I’d lost over 2st, and my health had improved drastically.
Get involved in the Weight Watchers community Although I’m a solitary person who likes to quietly get on with little fanfare or fuss, I found the camaraderie, support and friendship of my meeting group invaluable, inspirational, and confidence boosting. The plan has introduced me to some amazing people who helped me stay on track.
My yes moment I’ve always wanted to be a model, so it was thrilling to appear in Weight Watchers magazine. Seeing myself in print inspired me to pursue my dreams, and since, I’ve appeared on ITV’s This Morning, where I modelled for Gok Wan, and I’ve done a few photo shoots for an online clothing brand, too. I love escaping into the glamorous world of hair, make-up and fashion, and I know I wouldn’t have done it without joining Weight Watchers.
