Samantha started a super support system

Creating a healthy environment around herself helped Samantha reach her goals.

Samantha lost 11 lbs*

*People following the WW programme can expect to lose 1-2lb per week.

In Samantha’s words:
It was an appointment with my doctor that inspired me to get healthy. It happened around eight years ago, and I was already taking medication for my high blood pressure. But this time, my doctor tested me and told me I was prediabetic, too. I saw tears in her eyes. “You have your whole life ahead of you;” she said. “What are you doing?” That’s when I decided to make a change.

The “we” in wellness

A healthy home
At my first WW Workshop I learned that for a healthy life, I had to get prepared. My boyfriend is very health-minded so it was easy to get him on board. We started going grocery shopping together every week. Our plan: We stick to the perimeter of the store where the produce is located. And we made a house rule: only one or two boxes of snacks in our place at a time.

The buddy system
My boyfriend gets up every morning at 5 a.m. to work out, and he inspired me to start doing the same. It was tough at first to wake up when it was still dark out, but I slowly set up a routine. Now I wake up at 4:30 a.m. every morning and have my coffee. Then, we both head to the gym together. I make it to my 6 a.m. workout class while he’s lifting weights. It sets the tone for my whole day, and I love having this routine.

How Samantha’s success with WW has improved her life

Family fun
This journey has helped my whole family focus more on being healthy — and enjoying it. Sometimes I’ll make a dessert for a family party, and everyone will rave about it. Then when I say, “It’s only 2 SmartPoints per serving,” they’re shocked! My parents especially are more aware about what they’re eating and how much activity they’re getting. Sometimes my mom will call and say, “Hey, it’s raining today. Let’s go walk on the indoor track near your apartment.”

Can-do confidence
I've become a different person during my journey. I know what I want in life, and I'm not afraid to go for it. I'm a powerhouse! I know that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to — even put on a two-piece for the first time in 12 years! Sometimes I look back at the little girl I once was; the self-conscious child who was teased about her size. I want to tell her, “It’s going to be OK. You’re going to have an amazing life.”
