An update on compounded semaglutide
We no longer offer compounded semaglutide prescriptions for new members. However, we’re committed to helping members access other safe, effective, and affordable weight-loss meds, if you qualify.
- Insurance-covered GLP-1 meds: See if you’re eligible for an insurance coverage check
- Self-pay for GLP-1 options: Zepbound vials and Wegovy are available without insurance
- Oral medications: Metformin and Bupropion/Naltrexone are included in your membership
Prescriptions require online consultation with a healthcare provider who will determine if a prescription is appropriate.
Everything you need to know about the compounded semaglutide update
Why is WeightWatchers no longer offering access to compounded semaglutide?
Since we first learned of the FDA’s decision to end the semaglutide shortage, our team has explored every option to provide members access to affordable and safe medications in a compliant way. Unfortunately, to comply with recent FDA guidance, prescriptions for compounded semaglutide will no longer be available through our service after May 21, 2025.
Are there any concerns with switching from compounded semaglutide to another medication?
This is dependent on each individual. Safety is our top priority, and your Clinician will ensure that you are safely transitioning to another medication.
I don’t have insurance coverage. Do you offer compounded liraglutide or compounded tirzepatide?
We understand the importance of affordable treatment options but we do not currently offer compounded liraglutide or tirzepatide. However, we offer self-pay GLP-1 options including Zepbound vials and Wegovy.

Common questions we hear
What is WeightWatchers Clinic?
WeightWatchers Clinic is a telehealth medical clinic offering that focuses on weight-loss management using behavior change with effective weight-loss medications. It provides members with ongoing, comprehensive access to a dedicated Care Team including doctors, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and fitness coaches; 1:1 virtual support; an award-winning app; and a supportive community.
What medication do you prescribe?
The exact medication that your Clinician will prescribe depends on your medical history, biology, and insurance coverage. When appropriate, your Clinician may prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1 medications, including semaglutide (brand name Wegovy), liraglutide (brand name Saxenda), or tirzepatide (brand name Zepbound). When appropriate, your clinician may prescribe other medications with which other members have found success such as Metformin and combination Naltrexone and Bupropion. If your treatment plan isn’t working for you, talk to your WeightWatchers Clinic Care Team about adjustments or alternative plans.
Please note, some GLP-1 medications are experiencing intermittent nationwide shortages. See which medications are affected on the FDA shortage database.

Is medication included in my membership fee?
It depends on your treatment plan. For GLP-1 medications, your medications are not included, but your Care Team will work with you to get your medication covered by insurance and send a prescription to your preferred pharmacy. If insurance covers your medication, you may still be responsible for a copay.
For certain non-GLP-1 medications, the cost of membership will include your estimated medication fee when you choose our preferred mail-order pharmacy.
