How we started

In the more than 50 years since our founding in a living room in Queens, NY, we have helped millions of people from around the world lose weight through sensible and livable food choices, activity that fits their life, skills and techniques to help shift their mindset, and human support.

We have approximately 1.1 million active members who attend approximately 32,000 Weight Watchers meetings around the world, which were run by approximately 8,800 Leaders—each of whom has lost weight on Weight Watchers and kept it off.

Myths about Weight Watchers

  1. You have to eat packaged or frozen meals.Nope! You eat the way you want to. 
  2. You have to weigh in publicly. We would never do that to you! All weigh ins are private and confidential.
  3. You have to go to meetings. While meetings give you great accountability and support, you follow the program the way that fits your life.
