You can make this delicious Chinese favourite at home — by using flour tortillas instead of authentic pancakes, you’ll have it on the table faster than delivery.

Ingredients

Uncooked lean trimmed sirloin beef

8 oz, cut into thin strips

Low sodium soy sauce

3 tbsp(s), divided

Cornstarch

1 tsp(s)

Vegetable oil

2 tsp(s)

Uncooked scallions

2 medium, chopped

Garlic

3 clove(s), large, minced

Sherry cooking wine

2 tbsp(s)

Uncooked Chinese cabbage

2 cup(s), or Napa, chopped

Canned bamboo shoots

cup(s), sliced, drained and chopped

Canned straw mushrooms

cup(s), drained and sliced

Egg whites

1 serving(s), large, beaten

Fat free flour tortilla

12 medium, heated

Hoisin sauce

½ cup(s)

Instructions

  1. Mix beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and cornstarch.
  2. Heat oil in large skillet or wok. Add scallions and garlic; cook 1 minute. Add beef; brown, 2 minutes. Add remaining soy sauce and sherry. Cook 1 minute.
  3. Add cabbage, bamboo shoots and mushrooms. Cook 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in egg white and cook 2 minutes.
  5. To serve: Place a heated tortilla on a plate. Spread 2 teaspoons hoisin sauce on tortilla and then place 3 tablespoons beef filling on top of sauce. Roll up, folding in one end to seal in mixture. Yields 2 filled tortillas per serving.
