Mint & blackberry chocolate sauce

Blackberries, chocolate, and mint combined make this deeply coloured and deliciously flavoured sauce great to have around for many uses. Try serving drizzled over waffles, or make a sundae with ice cream, frozen yogurt, or “nice” cream. However you decide to put this lovely sauce to use, garnish with some fresh blackberries and a few small fresh mint leaves to complement the flavours and add a little visual beauty to the plate.
2 cup(s), rinsed and drained (or frozen, thawed)
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Fresh mint leaves
8 sprig(s), left whole (plus extra for garnish)
- In medium saucepan, cook blackberries, 1/2 cup water, sugar, cocoa powder, and mint over medium heat, stirring often, until berries break down, about 4 minutes. Transfer to blender and purée until almost smooth. Set fine-mesh strainer over medium bowl and strain sauce into bowl, pressing on solids to extract sauce. Transfer sauce to jar. Cover and refrigerate for up to 7 days.
