Move over bottled dressing, make room for this easy homemade recipe that’s so super-flavourful you’ll want to use it in a variety of ways. It’s great tossed with greens but would also make a terrific dip to serve with raw veggies. Consider also using it as the creamy base for chicken or tuna salad. It will keep in the refrigerate for up to 5 days so double it to keep in on hand during the week. We used dried herbs in this recipe for convenience however, fresh herbs are wonderful, too.

Ingredients

Reduced calorie mayonnaise

½ cup(s)

2% reduced fat milk

6 tbsp(s)

Water

¼ cup(s)

White wine vinegar

4 tsp(s)

Minced garlic

1 tsp(s)

Dried oregano

½ tsp(s)

Dried basil

½ tsp(s)

Table salt

½ tsp(s)

Black pepper

¼ pinch(es), freshly ground

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, milk, water, vinegar, garlic, oregano, basil, salt and pepper until blended. For best flavor, cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes.
  2. Yields about 1 1/2 tablespoons per serving.

Notes

If you have fresh herbs on hand, substitute 1 tablespoon fresh herbs for each teaspoon of dried herbs.
