The power of the mind
Mindfulness – being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and sensations in the moment, without judging them as good or bad – sounds simple, and yet it can be so powerful.
Being more mindful can boost wellbeing and life satisfaction and lower stress levels. It can help you stay focused on your goals, your choices, and the changes you’re making during your WW journey. Begin with a few minutes at a time. A great way to start? The short meditations in the WW app, specially curated by our partner Headspace. Most are just three minutes long.
Start with ‘Basics’, which is a meditation to help you become more present in mind and body. When you’re stressed, ‘Take a moment to pause’ could help. To focus at mealtimes, listen to ‘Engaging your senses while eating’. And when you need to wind down at night, spend 10 minutes on the relaxing ‘End of day’ meditation.
Prefer to try mindfulness on your own? Simply focus on your breathing for one minute, paying attention to how your chest and belly rise and fall and the movement of air in and out; close your eyes if you like.
