Obesity in Canada

In 2020 WW received the highest possible ranking among commercial weight loss programs in the new Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines. The guidelines were compiled to provide primary care practitioners evidence-informed options for assessing and treating people living with obesity. The guidelines are the result of more than two years’ work by more than 60 Canadian medical and health experts to identify the best evidence for obesity management.

The resulting guidelines indicate that obesity is a complex chronic disease requiring lifelong support and the goal of treatment should be an overall improvement in health

According to the new Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines, WW is highlighted as the commercial program with the highest quality of evidence to demonstrate that it works for weight management and delivers improvements in blood sugar control for people living with obesity and type 2 diabetes.

WW Canada supports the new Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines’ focus on improved health and quality of life, and we support the position that obesity is a complex chronic disease requiring lifelong support.
