Our new Beyond the Scale program delivers our most personal and holistic approach ever. It inspires and guides you towards healthier choices to help you not only lose weight, but also score benefits that go beyond just seeing a smaller number on the scale. You’ll eat healthier, move more, live happier, AND lose weight.

Our new program brings together:

  • A new SmartPoints™ plan to make healthy eating simple: SmartPoints goes beyond both traditional calorie-counting and the previous Weight Watchers PointsPlus® plan. It delivers weight loss while guiding you toward an eating pattern that includes less sugar and saturated fat and more lean protein, fruits, and vegetables. Everything is still on the menu — but this is our strongest stance ever on eating healthier foods. SmartPoints is the plan Oprah Winfrey has been using to lose weight and eat healthier since she became a member in August.
     
  • A new fitness approach that fits your busy life: Whether you want to get active and don’t know where to start or are ready to take it to the next level, we’ll meet you where you are with a personalized activity goal.  With our new FitPoints™ system you'll have a clear fitness goal to aim for every day.
     
  • A personalized program that serves your lifestyle, goals, and challenges: Kick things off with a personal assessment that focuses on you and your daily habits. Then get customized daily and weekly SmartPoints targets, an activity goal to reach for, and just-for-you articles and advice designed to help you feel good every day. 

All these benefits are delivered through: 

  • A completely redesigned mobile app experience, including Connect, a new social tool that ensures the power of the Weight Watchers community is always in the palm of your hand.
     
  • A refreshed approach to meetings, with a sharpened focus on members’ goals on and off the scale, a more motivating and social environment, and an emphasis on making your whole life healthier. 

So does it work?

Weight Watchers is in the middle of conducting a six-month clinical study of the Beyond the Scale program. After three months there were several promising results that went beyond successful weight loss. Participants in the study also reported a reduction in food cravings and experienced increases in stamina and flexibility. 

Changes to tracking your food and activity
 

In order to maximize the SmartPoints values of some of your foods, we may need more info on the meals you’ve created. Look out for a little bell icon and plug in any missing nutrients.

Our philosophy on activity is also changing. Moving more is great for many reasons: It can improve your mood, help you deal with stress, and make it easier to sustain long-term weight loss. Most people don’t need to swap FitPoints for food, but if you prefer to keep that option, you’ll need to change your default in Settings.
