Dad Dan and son Tom share a love of all things outdoors. From fishing to camping and hiking (a particular love of Dan’s) they have found ways to stay active together. The birth of Tom’s first child in January 2018, gave them both the motivations to invest in their own health, to live healthy lives, and be role models for the next generation.
WW: What is your “why” for joining WW?
Dan: When I met my grandson for the first time, I knew I wanted to be active and healthy enough to be a large influence on his life. I could only do that through losing weight.
Tom: I became a father myself last year My son was born in January 2018 and I want to be a positive role model to him.
WW: How has working the program together helped along your journey?
Dan: It has made family get together for holidays and occasions easier as we are all doing the program, so we are all choosing to make healthier choices. It is always nice to compare recipes as well.
Tom: My wife Michelle and I are doing it in our house and it’s always nice to know that if we go to my parent’s house, we will be able to stay on the program.
WW: How has the program changed your life?
Dan: I have more energy and stamina to complete projects and I am able to get back into my love for hiking.
Tom: I feel better physically and emotionally about myself. It has helped to get motivated to do other things in my life.
WW: What do you think is key to your success on the program?
Dan: The fact that my whole family is doing the program and I attend every meeting, Pam our leader keeps me accountable and does not let me get away with saying “it’s too hard.”
Tom: Tracking food and going to Workshops.
WW: What is your favourite WW tool?
Dan: The app for my phone so I have access to many recipes and it is easy to track my food.
Tom: The WW app on my phone.
WW: What’s your favourite ZeroPoint food?
Dan: It changes often. This week its grapes.
Tom: I like chicken breast and beans. I like my ZeroPoints foods to have protein.
