Who says fitness can’t be fashionable? At this point, most of us have heard the term Athleisure, and if you haven’t, it’s really just the result of wearing workout clothes that look great inside and outside of the gym. It’s a great combination of comfort, performance and fashion that’s perfect for the summer. And what better way to get motivated about fitness than to look and feel great while doing it? So, what looks should you rock on the way to, during, and after the gym? Here we go.

Hoodies

Ah yes, we’re starting this off on a good note. Hoodies are classic comfort, while also being great for wearing at the gym. Baggy, form fitting, regardless of how you like to wear them, hoodies are the epitome of cozy. And now, coupled with a pair of shorts or some leggings, they are a summer style statement.

Bags

Who knew we could get to a point where backpacks and duffle bags would be an essential piece of street style? This summer, how you carry your gear is almost as important as the gear you’re carrying. Whether it’s a canvas carrier you sling over a shoulder, or a stylish duffle you carry by your side, a fresh bag is important.

Kicks

Here’s where we get a little technical. When you hit the gym, you want to make sure your footwear is performance based. Basically, you should leave your low-cut Chucks and Adidas Superstars in your bag and lace up a pair of actual trainers. Depending on the shape of your foot, arch support is key, especially if you’re looking to do some cardio at the gym. But don’t think you have to sacrifice style for performance. We live in a great time where performance kicks are looking super stylish.

Vests

Okay, maybe this one isn’t for the gym, but vests are great looking fitness wear for when you head out on a hike. Wear one puffy, where one form-fitting, zip it up, or leave it open, a vest with some colour underneath will really pop this summer. It’ll keep you warm and cool you off, all the while keeping you looking confident.

Sweat Pants

Remember when sweatpants used to be a sign of staying in and watching a movie on the couch? Not anymore. Sweats have become an essential part of any stylish person’s wardrobe. Not only are they comfy as heck, but when paired with a fun top and some colourful kicks, they can look as good as they feel.

Yoga Pants

Yoga pants are kind of where idea of athleisure began -super comfy, super stylish, and super versatile when it comes to hitting the gym or going out for a jog. Not only are they great for yoga class, but you can toss on a sweater, and grab coffee with friends without feeling underdressed for the occasion.

Wearables

Wearable step counters like FitBit and Up can also be a fun accessory to rock this summer. And you don’t have to stick with the standard out-of-the-box colours; you can find some great designs and patterns that fit your personality. Beyond the obvious accessory potential, these step counters are also highly functional when it comes to staying active.

The athleisure look is here to stay, so this summer make sure you’re dressed to crush it at the gym or taking the kids to practice. Got any fashionable tips for the summer athleisure look? Send us a shout out on Facebook. Here’s to healthy choices!
