WeightWatchers® diabetes program
We know diabetes
Diabetes is one of the most common chronic conditions. It’s also one of the most misunderstood.
- What causes diabetes in the first place?
- Is type 1 diabetes all that different from type 2 diabetes?
- If you’re living with diabetes, do you have to ban all sugar?
- Is it true that diabetes is reversible?
To help you cut through the confusion, we’ve got science-backed answers, plus expert insight on how to manage the condition while still living the life you love.
A weight-loss program built by our nutrition and behavioral scientists, just for you
Tell us about yourself
After joining WeightWatchers, and letting us know that you live with type 1 or type 2 diabetes in the WW app, our diabetes program takes your needs into account.
Get a custom-designed plan
Our nutritionists also consider your weight, height, age and sex assigned at birth (which help us calculate your metabolic rate) to create a food plan with no-track, no-measure foods that are less likely to raise blood sugar.
Use Points, however you’d like
The WeightWatchers Points® system tally up complex nutritional data into one simple number. Points guide you toward foods with higher protein, higher fibre, and lower added sugar. These foods are also less likely to cause spikes in blood sugar.
Stay supported on your journey
Most weight-loss plans don’t understand what it’s like to live with diabetes. With our members-only ‘Living with Diabetes’ Connect group, you’ll feel like part of a community who gets it.

WW and diabetes FAQs
After you sign up and log into the WW app, you’ll see a pop-up message instructing you to answer a few simple questions. When prompted, indicate that you’re living with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
No, it’s simply tailored for members living with diabetes. You’ll still enjoy all aspects of the WW program and have a customised ZeroPoint foods list that takes diabetes into account.
If you have prediabetes, the regular Points program is suitable for you. The diabetes program is for people who have been told by their doctor or another healthcare provider that they have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
WW isn’t designed for people who are pregnant—therefore, the diabetes program is not recommended if you have gestational diabetes.
Our plan is not a replacement for a medical provider, and weight loss should never come before health. If your blood sugar is not where it needs to be, continue to monitor it according to your healthcare provider’s recommendations and follow your provider’s guidance on how to stabilise those numbers. We’ll be here to help you eat healthier, move more, and shift your mindset—while living your best life with diabetes.
