Give plain popcorn the flick and try this spice-coated version for a seriously tasty snack.


Unpopped popcorn kernals

80 g

Chilli powder

1 tsp

Ground cumin

1 tsp

Smoked paprika

1 tsp

Garlic powder or flakes

½ tsp, (powder)

Oil spray

1 x 3 second spray(s)


  1. To cook the popcorn, place popcorn kernels in an air popper and cook following manufacturer’s instructions. Alternatively, if you’re using the microwave, place popcorn in a large microwave-safe bowl, cover with a microwave-safe plate and microwave on High (100%) for 3–4 minutes or until popping subsides.
  2. Combine chilli powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder and ½ teaspoon salt in a small bowl. Lightly spray cooked popcorn with oil. Sprinkle spice mix over popcorn and toss to combine. Serve.


TIP: Be sure to lightly spray cooked popcorn with oil before adding spice mix to help it stick. TO STORE: Tex Mex popcorn will keep in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
