Extra lean beef mince

400 g

Garlic

Instructions

  1. Lightly spray a large non-stick frying pan with oil and heat over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, celery and fennel seeds and cook for 6-8 minutes or until vegetables are soft.
  2. Add mince, cook, breaking up lumps with a spoon for 5 minutes or until browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano and bay leaves. Crumble in stock cube and add 1½ cups (375ml) water. Bring to the boil, and simmer, covered for 40 minutes or until sauce is thick. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Just before serving, cook pasta in a large saucepan of boiling salted water following packet instructions. Drain and serve with sauce, cheese and basil leaves scattered over.

Notes

TIP: Want a flavour boost? Swap 125ml of the water for red wine. The bolognese sauce can be frozen without the pasta in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
