When you’re on a weight-loss journey, a lot of questions may come up, like: Is a GLP-1 right for me? Why is my weight plateauing? Do I really need to lift weights? Getting those questions answered, however, isn’t always easy. You’re busy. Your doctor is busy. And the internet is…an unreliable narrator.

Enter the Weight Watchers Expert Exchange Workshops, available to all members with a Core+ or Med+ membership. They’re not meant to replace doctor visits, but they can be a useful complement that provides support and science-backed information from our Clinicians. The best part is that they’re offered throughout the week, so you can pop in as questions arise. Here’s what you can expect from each session.

Knowledgeable clinicians

It can seem as if everyone is doling out medical and health advice: your friends, people you follow on social media, even A.I. But not all advice is created equal; while everyone may seem like an expert, they may not know what the latest science says, and what will work best for you. You can trust Expert Exchange Workshops because they’re led by Weight Watchers Clinicians with extensive training and certifications, including physicians and registered dietitians.

“It's easy to get caught in a social media tidal wave of feeling like you need to buy something to be healthy,” says member Tamikka. “Dr. Ashley was asked about collagen supplements in a Clinician & Conditions Expert Exchange, and she explained that eating a variety of whole foods allows our amazing bodies to build collagen without adding stress to our budgets. That’s helped me avoid spending money on unnecessary expensive supplements. ”

As a bonus, all of the Clinicians intricately understand the Weight Watchers program and philosophy, so you don’t have to spend any precious minutes explaining the system, and our Clinicians can recommend other Workshops or programs that could be a good fit for you.

Convenient virtual sessions

Expert Exchanges are offered throughout the week, at different times, to fit your schedule. (Unlike with a typical doctor’s office, that means you can get your questions answered on weekends and evenings.) “The beauty of these sessions lies in providing members with a dedicated space to have their medical questions thoroughly explored from their own living rooms. It’s a safe, welcoming atmosphere where people feel free to share — without the pressures of a rushed appointment or rigid professional environment,” says Dr. Nisha P,, D.O., a senior medical director at Weight Watchers who also leads the Midlife Manual, an Expert Exchange focused on perimenopause and beyond. In short, they’re more casual, accessible, and friendly, while still containing useful and factual information.

A wide range of topics

Whether you missed a GLP-1 dose and want to know how to proceed, can’t seem to sleep through the night during perimenopause, or want to know if the latest weight-loss trend you’re seeing online is legit or bunk, Expert Exchanges can cut through the noise with clarity. The offerings include:

  • What's Trending Tuesdays

Dr. Ashley O., D.O., a board-certified family medicine physician and a weight-management clinician, leads a weekly pulse check on what's happening in weight health — from emerging research and nutrition buzz to fitness trends taking over your feed. She cuts through the hype and brings you the real science.

  • Clinician & Conditions

Join Dr. Zoya M., M.D. for deep talk about chronic conditions (including obesity and diabetes) and weight. She breaks down the connection between weight and health, including what's happening in your body and what changes as you lose weight.

  • Myths of Weight Loss and Science of Hunger

Dr. Matt P., M.D. explains what's really going on when you feel hungry and why so much of what you've heard about weight loss probably isn’t true. He breaks down the science behind hunger signals, debunks the most persistent weight-loss myths, and explains what actually drives sustainable change.

  • Expert Exchange: GLP-1 Success

Dr. Ashley O., D.O. helps you navigate being on a GLP-1 medication, including managing side effects and building sustainable habits.

  • The Midlife Manual

Dr. Nisha P., D.O. gets into the science behind what’s causing perimenopause and menopause symptoms (hot flashes, weight changes, sleep disruptions, brain fog) and shares practical tools and treatments to work with your body instead of against it during this transition time.

  • Macro Monday

On the first and third Mondays of the month, a Registered Dietitian talks macros (protein, carbs, fats) and what they actually do for your body. They’ll cover questions like: How much protein do you really need? Are carbs really the enemy? And what’s the deal with healthy fats?

  • The RD Is In

Every other week, Shelby S., R.D., talks about nutrition, gives personalized guidance, and shares a preview of what it actually looks and feels like to work one-on-one with an R.D. (including how to see if a private session is covered by your insurance).

  • How to Eat on a GLP-1

On the first and third Thursday of the month, an R.D. goes over the nutritional considerations while taking a GLP-1 medication, such as navigating reduced appetite, getting enough protein, and building a balanced plate.

  • Nutrition Myth-Busting

On the second and fourth Thursday of the month, an R.D. tackles the nutrition myths, mixed messages, and outdated advice that make healthy eating more confusing than it needs to be, providing expert perspective.

  • Ask an R.D.: GLP-1 Edition

Abbi B., R.D., shares how to manage GLP-1 side effects through food, how to make sure you’re protecting your muscle through what you eat, and answers any GLP-1 nutrition questions.

  • Recipe Roundup, Food Joy, and Chat & Chew

For each of these three Workshops, which each happen once a week, Sherry R., head of recipe innovation at Weight Watchers, dishes on all things food: favorite recipes, cooking hacks, meal prep wins, how a foodie can thrive on Weight Watchers, and what’s actually working in her kitchen right now. She can help make cooking healthier, tastier, and easier.

Time to ask your questions

Each session begins with the Clinician giving a talk, then opening the floor to questions. If you’re feeling shy, know that you’ll never be forced to turn your camera on or to speak. You can just listen in, or you can raise your hand and chime in with your questions. “Even when someone comes in with one question, they often realize that other members are wondering the same thing. That can be very validating, because in addition to getting concrete information, it helps people feel less alone,” says Dr. Zoya M., M.D., who leads the Clinician & Conditions Workshop. She says some common questions that come up in her Workshop include:

  • “How do I know if my medication is working?”

  • “What should I do if my weight loss slows down?”

  • “How can I manage nausea or other GLP-1 side effects?”

  • “How do I preserve muscle while losing weight?”

  • “What happens if I stop my GLP-1 medication?”

  • “How do I stay motivated when progress feels slow?”

If you’d like to know the answers to these or anything else about weight or health, sign up for an Expert Exchange, and bring whatever burning question you have. “The clinical perspective helps members better understand what to expect, know what is normal versus what may need follow-up, and how to think about their health beyond just the number on the scale. A big part of the Expert Exchange Workshops is helping members understand the ‘why’ behind their care in a way that feels approachable, so they’re more informed, reassured, and confident in their next steps,” Dr. Zoya says.

The bottom line

Expert Exchange Workshops are a way to get time with Clinicians, Registered Dietitians, and other Weight Watchers pros to get your questions answered. From menopause symptoms to GLP-1 side effects to how much protein you actually need, Expert Exchange Workshops are a way to cut through the noise and hear from qualified experts about science-backed strategies — and what’s right for you. To sign up, go to Find Your Workshop or tap Workshops in the WW app, choosing the Expert Exchange filter.
