Ingredients

Beef Braising Steak, Lean, raw

500 g

Calorie controlled cooking spray

Onion

Garlic

Paprika

½ tablespoon(s), level

Tinned Tomatoes

Beef stock cube(s)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 2/150˚C/fan oven 130˚C.
  2. Season the steak and spray a lidded ovenproof casserole with the cooking spray. Brown the steak in two batches, removing the meat to a plate as it is browned.
  3. Spray the casserole with a little more cooking spray and cook the onions for 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and smoked paprika and cook for 1 minute, then add the tomatoes, beef stock and browned beef. Season the stew, bring to a simmer, then cover and cook in the oven for 1 hour.
  4. Stir the peppers and butter beans into the stew, pushing them down into the liquid, then replace the lid and cook for a further 30 minutes, or until the meat is tender.
