Pilau rice with peas
1 large, chopped
2 clove(s), sliced

Cloves, Whole or Ground
⅛ teaspoon(s), level, 1 pinch
1 teaspoon(s), crushed seeds of 4
Peas, fresh or frozen
White basmati rice, dry
- Mist a large pan with cooking spray and fry the onion for 6-8 minutes, until soft.
- Add the garlic, ground turmeric, cumin seeds, ground cloves, the crushed seeds of the cardamom pods and cinnamon stick, and cook for 1-2 minutes (add a splash of water if it catches).
- Add the rice, frozen peas and 550ml boiling water, then stir and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let stand for 10 minutes, then serve.
