Excellent for a crunchy nibble, or to serve for breakfast with milk and fresh fruit, this granola has far less fat and sugar than bought versions.

Ingredients

Calorie controlled cooking spray

Porridge oats

400 g

Wheat Bran, Dried

50 g

Sesame Seeds

15 g

Sunflower Seeds

50 g

Hazelnuts

100 g

Honey

100 g

Dried cranberries

50 g

Raisins

50 g, or sultanas

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C, fan 180°C, gas mark 6. Spray the baking sheets or Swiss roll tin with the cooking spray.
  2. Keep a few of the nuts whole and chop the rest roughly. Mix them all in a large bowl with the oats, wheat bran, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and honey. Tip the mixture on to the baking sheet and spread it out evenly.
  3. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until the mixture is evenly toasted. Cool completely before stirring in the dried fruit. Transfer to a storage jar and keep in a cool place for up to 1 month.
