French toast with fruity honey drizzle

This works as a delicious dessert or weekend breakfast treat. Suitable for the whole family.
Ingredients
  • White bread, sliced
    4 slice(s), medium, crusts removed
  • Egg, whole, raw
    1 medium, raw
  • Skimmed Milk
    150 ml
  • Vanilla Extract
    1 teaspoons, level
  • Calorie controlled cooking spray
    5 spray(s)
  • Banana(s)
    2 medium
  • Strawberries
    225 g, stalks removed
  • Icing Sugar
    2 teaspoons, level
  • Honey
    4 teaspoons, level, clear
Instructions
  1. In a shallow bowl, beat together the egg, milk and vanilla essence.
  2. Cut the slices of bread into triangles, then dip them in the egg and milk mixture, leaving them to soak for a few moments, so that the liquid is absorbed.
  3. Heat a large frying pan and spray with low fat cooking spray. Add the soaked bread triangles and cook on both sides until browned. Transfer to four warmed plates.
  4. Slice the bananas and strawberries over each portion. Sprinkle with the icing sugar and drizzle one teaspoon of honey over each portion. Serve at once.
Notes
A combination of raspberries, strawberries and blueberries tastes delicious too. Use 100g of each.
