Bush walks around Australia and New Zealand

Here at WW HQ we are so excited about the warmer weather, we’ve pulled together a selection of our favourite walks across Australia and New Zealand to encourage you to get out in the fresh air. Trail walking is great for your overall health as it can increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones and build lean muscle mass. With so many beautiful places to walk, it’s time to get out there!

Adelaide, SA

Arthur's Seat in the Adelaide Hills
Take a beautiful stroll around Mount Lofty, with panoramic views around the Adelaide Hills and a touch of history on the side. There are some gorgeous lakeside spots along the trails of Arthur’s Seat so be sure to take a SmartPoint® friendly snack in your backpack so you can stop for a bite to eat and appreciate the beauty.

Perth, WA

Law Walk
An urban bushland trail with amazing views of the Swan River, Law Walk is a 2.5km loop, with a few steep sections for you to get your heart rate up! If you’re lucky, you may even see dolphins in the bay. Pram access is available so it’s perfect for working out with the kids. Learn more about walking in Perth here.

Sydney, NSW

Bondi to Bronte
Feel the wind in your hair and breathe in the ocean breeze on this 6km trip along Sydney’s spectacular coastline. This walk is a must whether you live in Sydney or are just visiting. The Bondi to Bronte walk offers beautiful views of the ocean and local surfers. Pram access isn’t available on all parts of this walk, so we’d recommend this walk for adults without young children or older families.

Melbourne, Vic

Merri Creek Trail
A lush green walk in the city’s north, this beautiful walk passes by Merri Creek all the way to the Yarra. It’s perfect for weekend strolls with the kids - you can even take your bikes. We’d recommend taking a picnic and sitting by the water – you’ll need it after all that exercise!

Christchurch, NZ

Godley Head Coastal Walk
With spectacular views so close to the city (it’s approximately a 50 minute drive), you can often spot whales and dolphins in the water from the Godley Head Coastal Walk. As well as passing historical sites on the way, you’ll pass the extraordinary Taylors Mistake Beach, which is worth stopping at.

Auckland, NZ

Coast to Coast Walkway
The Coast to Coast Walkway takes you over seas from coast to coast – from Waitemata to the Manukau to be precise! This 16km trail offers a mix of city, nature, sea and even volcanic cones. Explore Auckland’s rich history on this trail and don’t forget to take some time to look around Eden Gardens, located on the slopes and adjacent to Maungawhau, which is cared for by volunteers and preserved thanks to the nature of the volcano.
