This salad gets its sophisticated flavor from fresh fennel, which imparts a subtle taste of anise. Serve it with just about anything Italian, or with pork.
Ingredients

balsamic vinegar

2 Tbsp

olive oil

1 tsp

table salt

¾ tsp

ground sage

½ tsp

black pepper

¼ tsp, freshly ground

canned cannellini beans

19 oz, rinsed and drained

uncooked fennel bulb(s)

2 medium, trimmed and thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk the vinegar, oil, sage and pepper. Add the fennel and beans; toss gently to coat.
