White Beans and Fennel

This salad gets its sophisticated flavor from fresh fennel, which imparts a subtle taste of anise. Serve it with just about anything Italian, or with pork.
balsamic vinegar2 Tbsp
olive oil1 tsp
table salt¾ tsp
ground sage½ tsp
black pepper¼ tsp, freshly ground
canned cannellini beans19 oz, rinsed and drained
uncooked fennel bulb(s)2 medium, trimmed and thinly sliced
- In a large bowl, whisk the vinegar, oil, sage and pepper. Add the fennel and beans; toss gently to coat.
