Layer the sandwich with baby spinach leaves or other favorite leafy green.
Ingredients

low fat cream cheese

¼ cup(s), (Neufchâtel), softened

lemon zest

2 tsp

Italian seasoning

½ tsp, or dried oregano

black pepper

¼ tsp

whole wheat bread

8 slice(s)

deli sliced turkey

12 oz, shredded ( 1 1/2 cups)

roasted red peppers (packed in water)

½ cup(s), thinly sliced

basil

8 leaf/leaves

Instructions

  1. Mash together the cream cheese, lemon zest, Italian seasoning, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  2. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over 4 slices of the bread. Layer evenly with the turkey, roasted red pepper, and basil. Cover with the remaining slices of bread. Cut each sandwich in half. Yields 1 sandwich per serving.
