Turkey sandwiches get a makeover with this tasty Italian-version. Cream cheese is mixed with lemon and Italian seasoning, spread on bread and then layered with roasted turkey breast (homemade or store-bought), roasted red peppers and fresh, fragrant basil. Tender baby spinach leaves, peppery arugula or baby kale leaves are also great options. If you have a panini press, turn this into a hot sandwich.

low fat cream cheese

lemon zest

Italian seasoning

black pepper

whole wheat bread

cooked turkey breast without skin

12 oz, thinly sliced

roasted red peppers (packed in water)

½ cup(s), thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Mash together cream cheese, lemon zest, Italian seasoning, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  2. Spread cheese mixture evenly over 4 slices of the bread. Layer evenly with turkey, roasted red pepper, and basil. Cover with remaining slices of bread.
