This is a delicious twist on the breakfast favorite.
Ingredients

low fat cream cheese

2 Tbsp, (Neufchâtel), softened

whole wheat bread

6 slice(s)

jam

2 Tbsp, all-fruit variety

egg(s)

1 large

egg white(s)

fat free skim milk

3 Tbsp

vanilla extract

1 tsp

ground cinnamon

½ tsp

Instructions

  1. Spread 2 teaspoons cream cheese on each of three slices of bread, leaving an 1⁄8-inch border. Spread 2 teaspoons all-fruit spread on each of the three remaining slices of bread, again leaving an 1⁄8-inch border. Sandwich the slices together, cream cheese to spread, making 3 sandwiches. Cut each sandwich in half.
  2. Whisk the egg and egg whites in a large bowl, then whisk in the milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until frothy.
  3. Spray a large nonstick skillet with nonstick spray and set over medium heat. Dip 3 of the sandwich halves in the egg mixture, then place in the skillet. Cook 2 minutes, then flip and cook until golden, about 2 minutes longer. Transfer to a plate and repeat with the remaining 3 sandwich halves. Yields 1⁄2 sandwich per serving.
