This ever-popular type of snack mix can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. Ready in just seven minutes, this mix is great as a party appetizer, afternoon snack or a lunch-box treat. Peanuts, pretzels and rice cereal bring the crunch while the buttery, salty heat comes from the spice coating which includes cumin, cayenne and curry powder. Dial your heat level to your tastes. Kids and adults alike will have a hard time resisting handfuls of this wonderful combination.

Ingredients

Unsalted butter

2 Tbsp, melted

Curry powder

1 Tbsp

Less sodium soy sauce

1 Tbsp

Sugar

1½ tsp

Paprika

1½ tsp

Ground cumin

1 tsp

Table salt

½ tsp

Cayenne pepper

¼ tsp

Puffed rice cereal

2½ cup(s)

Pretzel twist

4 oz, mini variety (1/2 cup)

Raw peanuts

3 Tbsp, lightly salted

Instructions

  1. Stir together the butter, curry powder, soy sauce, sugar, paprika, cumin, salt and cayenne in a small bowl.
  2. Toss together the rice Chex, corn Chex, and pretzel twists in a large bowl. Add the butter mixture to the cereal mixture and toss until evenly coated. Stir in the peanuts. Yields about 1/2 cup per serving.
