Instructions

Heat oil in large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Add tomatoes with their juice, tomato paste, salt, and pepper; cook, stirring, until tomatoes break down and begin to soften, about 4 minutes. Stir in basil.
