Here’s a dessert that’s perfect for a summer night when you don’t want to spend much time in the kitchen. These nectarines take about 5 minutes to make thanks your broiler. Just be sure to watch the nectarines carefully as they broil—fruit heats up at different temperatures, and it can burn quickly under an intense blaze. If desired, serve nectarine halves with a little low-fat sour cream; spread it in a little puddle on the plate before setting a nectarine half in the center of it. Or serve over a dollop of plain Greek yogurt for breakfast.

Ingredients

Nectarine

2 medium, halved and pitted

Sugar

4 tsp, granulated

Instructions

  1. Position an oven rack 4 to 6 inches from broiler. Preheat broiler.
  2. On a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil, place nectarines cut side up; sprinkle 1 tsp sugar over each. Broil until sugar caramelizes, about 2 minutes.
  3. Serving size: 1⁄2 nectarine
