Here’s a dessert that’s perfect for a summer night when you don’t want to spend much time in the kitchen. These nectarines take about 5 minutes to make thanks to utilizing your broiler. And literally nothing tastes better than caramelized fruit. Just be sure to watch the nectarines carefully as they broil—fruit heats up at different temperatures, and it can burn quickly under an intense blaze. If desired, serve nectarine halves with a little low-fat sour cream; spread it in a little puddle on the plate before setting a nectarine half in the center of it.

4 tsp, granulated

Instructions

  1. Position oven rack 4 to 6 inches from broiler element, and preheat broiler.
  2. Place nectarines, cut-side up, on a lipped baking sheet; sprinkle 1 teaspoon sugar over each nectarine. Broil until sugar caramelizes, about 2 minutes. Serving size: 1/2 nectarine.
